Sad to report that we have lost another great Hollywood star today. Richard Attenborough, actor & Director has passed away at 90 years of age. He was the eldest of the three Attenborough brothers, the others being David Attenborough, famous nature broadcaster and John Attenborough (died 2012), an executive at Alpha Romeo. Attenborough was known for his role as the ambitious John Hammond in Steven Spielberg's
Jurassic Park and for directing the epic biopic
Gandhi, which one him both the Best Picture and Best Director Academy Awards.
He long career began on the stage, with roles in plays such as the Agatha Christie's classic
The Mousetrap. He then went on to star in other classics like
Morning Departure and as the 'Big X' in
The Great Escape. Among his many other accolades, he was made a Commander of the British Empire in 1967. He will be missed. Rest in peace Richard.
